Check out the coolest thing in the history of ever! My friend, assemblage artist Krystopher Sapp, made me this incredible frame for my computer monitor. I love it so much that I’m having trouble finishing this post because I keep stopping to stare it some more. It’s gothic and glam with tons of macabre details. I love that it’s one of a kind and I feel beyond lucky that it’s mine. The frame features some of my favorite things: skulls, bats, turrets, gravestones, chains and purple. It inspires me to dig into the deep dark recesses of my imagination and think grim.
I spend hours a day chained to my computer and I’m trying to prettify the space so that I want to be there. To the left of the screen, you can see my Spirit of Writing candle from Voodoo Authentica in New Orleans, a Toxic Toons candle that Eric Pigors gave me at Bats Day Black Market, and a hand painted sugar skull acquired at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery Day of the Dead festivities last year. When I look of each of the items I’m reminded of friends and events that are special to me. And my desktop wallpaper features one of my favorite films, Sweeney Todd. Theoretically, surrounding myself with my favorite things is supposed to motivate me to sit and work, but I have to admit it’s also caused some unproductive daydreaming.

This skull sits at the top center of the frame with bats to either side and a rat-like creature perched on top. The round brass eyes are creepy!

A close-up of the top-left corner. It's hard to take a close enough picture to see, but there are itty bitty rats crawling over the fixtures.

This is the bottom left hand corner of the frame. Look at the little demon at the top of the castle tower with his pitchfork!
Thank you again Krystopher! I’m in awe of your talents. The frame is a treasure beyond words and I wish that photos could do it justice.
Seeing how cool this frame looks I see potential to goth-glam-up things with frames all around me: my TV, my double door entryway, my bookcases, my license plates, my headboard etc. How cool would that be? And I may have to spray paint that old printer in back of the monitor purple (I’m fairly certain that any attempts I made to do so would break it… maybe I should just color all over it with a purple sharpie…)

Seriously cool- all the details are impressive and endearing if demons, bats and rats can be said to be endearing. You certainly are lucky to have such talented friends in your world.
Amazing detail. Very imaginative. I can’t imagine how much work this took. What an awesome gift.
