Arm the Animals

Gorilla Warfare comes in two color ways for $21

Arm the Animals is dedicated to giving a voice to some of society’s most vulnerable members: animals.  By selling unique, clever t-shirts with their slogan and empowering designs, Arm the Animals seeks to promote awareness.  25% of all sales go to two Los Angeles-area rescue organizations that they have partnered with.  They are not making any money on these shirts.  This is a passion project for all involved.

Millions of domestic animals are euthanized in shelters throughout the country every year.  In Los Angeles in 2009 alone, the county shelters euthanized 50,692 dogs and cats and the city shelters euthanized 19,547.  Most of these domestic animals, bred to be companions to people, were guilty of nothing more than bad luck.  Society has failed these unfortunate creatures.

Arm the Animals is partnered with Good Dog Animals Rescue in Venice, CA and Strangest Angels Non-Profit Animals Rescue in Los Angeles, CA.  Both of these charities take dogs and cats out of shelters and find them loving homes.  Several years ago I adopted my Pekingese Audrey from a similar rescue group and I have been blessed with the most loving and loyal companion I could ask for.  I don’t have any experience with cats, but I can tell you that rescue dogs know what they were up against and they never forget it.

Like the people selling these t-shirts, I wish I could save every animal, and I am grateful for an opportunity to help.  I ordered the black babydoll Dear Hunter tee (pictured below) and I can’t wait to wear it and spread the message.

The Dear Hunter tee is available as a white babydoll tee (shown) or as a black babydoll, black men's tee and white men's tee for $21

The Bulldog Blade tee is currently available in three color ways for $21

The 9 Lives to Lose tee is available in a black or white babydoll for $21

This Iron Tusk design is coming soon in four color ways for $21

These t-shirts make great holiday gifts that give back in more ways than one.  To see all of the designs or for more information about Arm the Animals visit their website.  Do you have experience with a rescued companion?  I’d love to hear your stories in the comment section!
