Elaine Ho’s Fish Jaw necklace, (above) was cast from an actual piece of fish jaw that Elaine found on a beach. ”I was so freaked out by this jaw when i first saw it i couldn’t even touch it,” writes Elaine. “I have a love hate relationship with dead stuff. It was really dirty and still had some meaty bits attached to it. I made someone else pick it up and clean it off for me, because i just had to have it and turn it into a necklace.”
Based in Montreal, Canada, jeweler Elaine Ho fashions sinister, but quirky necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings out of sterling silver. How many jewelers do you know who can take a subject like a dead rabbit and turn it into something cute? How many would even attempt it?
One of Elaine’s newest pieces, the Severed Arm Necklace (above) was inspired by a fascination she has with detached limbs. “If you’ve ever been to my house,” she writes, ”you’ll know that I have doll heads and mannequin arms all over the place. They look really lovely in the planters, and bookshelves, and kitchen cabinets. I’m just partial to the hands, and heads, I’m very particular about the faces. I don’t care much for the other parts.”

Knife Pendant has a sterling silver sharp sharp blade that can be put to all sorts of practical uses, and an ebony handle from Elaine's Etsy shop for $90
